A modern day equivalent of Pippa, Compact Doll was created by the illustrious Takara Co. of Japan.

They don't make them any more, but they do still pop up on eBay. There are quite a few different Compact Dolls; all are light skinned with the typical cutey manga look. Pictured is the little Chinese girl but you can also get one in a kimono, an American cowgirl, a cute angel and the ubiquitous Japanese schoolgirl in scandalous mini, amongst others. They all have freakishly enormous shoes, probably borrowed from Licca the Japanese Barbie style doll.

These dolls are only for display; if you try to reposition her limbs, the wires poke out of her skin. Very Tetsuo. I haven't tried the outfits out on Pippa, as these dolls are very difficult to re-box. Overall she is a bit smaller than Pippa.
