Issued in 1976, Pete is virtually identical to the Topper doll Gary. There are two different Petes; it's unclear if they were different year issues or not. In the picture below the Pete on the left has Hong Kong stamped on his butt; Pete on the right has Palitoy stamped on his butt. It seems that Pete on the left was actually a repackaged Gary, bought up by Palitoy after Topper went bust.
Here are the two Petes' heads and legs. Pete on the left is a bit better looking and has rubbery legs. Pete on the right is no oil painting and has hard plastic jointed legs. Both had the same outfit so I've not bothered to make a link to the ugly one. |
